/ Future of Service Mesh is Sidecar-less with Istio Ambient Mesh

Description

Istio ambient service mesh introduces the new “sidecar-less” data plane option. Ambient mesh slices the mesh into two layers, Layer 4 and optional Layer 7, one implemented in Rust and the other in C++ using Envoy proxy. Lin, who is a founding member of Istio, will explain why Istio ambient mesh data plane is architected in two layers, the simplified operation of sidecar-less service mesh while reducing costs, along with why the future of service mesh is sidecar-less. She will demonstrate live how developers and operators can adopt the two layers incrementally and experience the full benefits of the Istio ambient mesh.
